About Me

I'm tired, what else is new?

Work sucked today.

I love Starbucks and everything, but I just went through one of those days where the hours seemed longer than they should have been.

I need to get back to working out... My actual dietary habit hasn't been amazing, since it's been consisting of pizza and Starbucks sandwiches/drinks.

I've been really getting into D&D lately, upping my geekiness level up a notch. I play a badass wizard, who likes to blow shit up.

Other than that?

I need sleep and something or someone to dream about.

The wind is bothering me

I'm done first year university, but I don't feel any less busy. I'm working tonight and I have summer school lined up...

I thought that because I finished school, I would have less things to worry about. Nope, that's not the case at all! I'm still getting used to the fact that I'm working and in all honesty, it's difficult to get a good footing when your schedule is so random.

And because of that, I feel like a party pooper for not being able to hang out with my buddies.

With a type of person like me, I'm supposed to love the static, unexpected random lifestyle... And I do! But right now, I'd like one thing at least to be somewhat stable. Or at least normal.

Looking for the things that aren't there

Yay another update! I think blogging is slowly becoming routine yet again!

I have to catch the bus in about ten minutes to go finish the rest of my formal training for work. Last night was pretty bad... My partners keep telling me it's not my fault, that I'm not fully trained and all that other stuff. But I can't help but be responsible... I mean I am supposed to know a majority of the drinks already (I'm only behind two modules...).

Bah, whatever. I'll get through it somehow.

In other news, my nose is beet red. Haha, I look like a clown! Why? Because I snubbed my nose against my bedpost the other night. Don't ask how.

Hopefully, people don't notice, haha! Or if they do, I can fully explain my epic story of how it happened, lest, they hide their jeering laughter and disgustedness of my rudolphian nose...

I'd curse them, but I'm not a warlock ;P

Cheers,

A Theory before Work

I've got work in about an hour, and I've been thinking up a theory.

There's this wall between people that exists primarily based on culture, personal morality, ethics and all that fun stuff. People naturally don't like this wall. Because it challenges them, puts them on edge, makes them feel uneasy about themselves and how to portray themselves to others.

But! People can't help but love these walls. We're curious to see what's behind them. We want to see what angers people, what pleases people, what makes people tick.

So what do we do? We beat around the bush. We construct fake walls in a rather sad attempt to see through others. We can't outright say what's on our minds without being ridiculed by fear of embarassment that scrapes the innards of our geniune walls.

When's the last time you've told someone how you really feel? Like REALLY feel? Ten bucks says a few days (maybe weeks) later, you don't talk to them the same way, because what you said wasn't cool, or it wasn't right. Or you end up fighting.

I believe that we are innately lazy. We want others to come to us, but when they do we can't help but relish the thought that maybe we should've met half way. Which is why we reject opportunities that present themselves, because we weren't looking for them in the first place.

A great relationship, whether it be romantic, work-related, school-related, personal philosophy, religion, politics, whatever... It requires effort from both sides of the equation.

That's just something I thought up... Time to go to work.

From one wave to the next

I've got one last exam this upcoming Saturday and I'll finally be able to enjoy summer, or at least a little bit of it.

I'm scheduled to work 30 hours this week, and I still haven't finished my training. Nor am I confident enough to feel good about doing my job right...

I bought a small agenda/organizer thing to write down my work schedule, and I carry it everywhere with me now. It's actually pretty convenient.

I've also got into the habit of carrying Tic Tacs with me. Ever since I've gotten sick, I've had trouble breathing through my nose, so I've been constantly inhaling and exhaling through my mouth.

Of course, there's a lot of bad air and bacteria that gets lodged in enclaves of my throat while I sleep, so I've been dealing with morning cases of bad breath. It's pretty disgusting, haha I don't even know why I'm writing about this, but yeah I've become real good friends with my pack of Tic Tacs (and yes, I still continue to brush on a regular basis you freak, why would even think I didn't? Haha).

I've gotten my first paycheque from Starbucks, and I'm not sure what I should do with it. I'm thinking of getting a PS3 or a XBox 360, an Ipod or a new guitar. I've never had an ipod before, so it might be a nice investment. I've had two guitars in the past, and none of them were really great... I still have to pay my other friend back for my Edgefest ticket and Wonderland Season Pass though.

Ah well.

At least I'll have work to keep my mind preoccupied. I'm not sure if I want to do summer school... I think I will end up going through with it.

Now that I've got a (what looks to be steady) job, I could use a girlfriend. Well, no I don't actually want to use her, but--

Wow, that sounds so wrong. What I mean, is that I'd like to--

I'm just going to stop now.

All work and All play

...Makes Rio a kickass wtfbbqsauce gangsta.

Seriously though, I really should know what the hell I'm doing first. I worked my first full shift as a Starbucks fiend (well more than full, I worked 9 hours) without any training. None. Zip. NA-DA.

And there was only 3 of us scheduled to work. Doing the math, that's 2 capable people and 1 untrained partner... Can you imagine the long ass line up to the door?

I bused for 9 hours. Only one 15 min break. My shift superviser didn't even get one. I was informally trained at the cash register. It would normally take an entire day to train on it. I had a 30 second lesson.

Man, I seriously need to know what the hell I'm getting into.

Oh, and I just finished my last assignment-essay of first year last night (or actually this morning). It's really, REALLY crappy.

C'mon, C+!

An Update Finally....

It's been a long while, since I've had an update so I think it's appropriate to outline some key events that have recently occurred:

(Which are not by chronological order)

- Applied for Starbucks!
- Celebrated a bar bash with my best bud (the night was freakin awesome! My DD got smashed, so I trekked home through someone else)
- Partied downtown @ The Drake Hotel (solo)
- Got the job @ Starbucks!
- Finished my 1/4 essays
- Started training @ Starbucks!
- Finished my Final for Theories of Writing
- Trying to work on my remaining essays
- While scheduling work in as well

Did I mention I'm WORKING for STARBUCKS!?!? :)

I am incredibly psyched.

But now I have 3 essays to write. And I have yet to start. :(

The way things used to be

I'm planning to adorn my barren bedroom walls with photos of all my friends and all the wicked times we've had through school, parties, random chillages... all that fun stuff.

I looked through all 470-something of my photos on Facebook...

And I miss all those moments. They were the best kind.

God I hate Disney/Pixar...

Why the hell are they so damn good?

I just rented Disney's Bolt, and they did such a great job of making me tear (yes, as in tear drop) up.

Bah, it's pathetic on so many levels.

That I just watched this: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9lp0IWv8QZY&feature=related

Never judge a book by its cover is by far the truest statement.

Just some thoughts

In grade 2, we were taught how to make oragami flowers. I still remember how to do it to this day, and so I've been taking the transfer tickets on the bus and making them into flowers. And then I leave it on the seat when I leave.

I figure, one day someone will find one and smile. It might even brighten their day. And for that one moment in time, I would be their hero.

Just a thought.

Hello, April

I ended up going with my older brother to that York Black Tie Gala event over the weekend. I figured he'd like to go, since he himself is a graduate from York. That, and I couldn't bring myself to find a date.

Well, whatever it was an amazing event. I got to take pictures with the President of the University, and with some dancers and I even got to meet Matt Dusk, which was pretty awesome.

It was a rich, formal social event. They had servers lined up with wine, and small snack bits and they had small tables set up, so you could effectively mingle with others around you. Very, very elegant. I would not mind becoming rich and attending these socials.

My work load has tripled. I now have two midterms lined up for next week.

I've paid off my debts, so I'm glad.

My birthday is soon arriving! My brother bought me a sick spring jacket from Buffalo. My best friend got me a Warhammer 40K C'tan Nightbringer toy model (and a bonus Immortal model!). It's a little early to be receiving gifts, but I won't complain. =)

Do I have any plans?

Well, no. I'm not the type to throw awesome birthday bashes. I did it one year, and it wasn't the greatest experience...

A quiet dinner with my family is probably all I'll expect.

No Mission Tonight

I don't think I'll be doing anything tonight, aside from relaxing and painting the rest of my toy models.

I'm sorta glad I don't have to worry about heading anywhere, or doing anything extraordinary. Especially since it's Friday.

It shall be a normal weekend...

Hah! As if normal should ever exist.

And it looks like we're looking for a fourth 40k player to come hang out with us, and play. It's funny, we were thinking of recruiting a girl.

But we all know that girls and Warhammer never mix. Unless of course, you're that rare gem in a sea of cobblestone.

Whatever. Time to relax.

What do you mean I'm screwed?

I just realized that on top of my assignments that I have, (see previous post), I've got to prepare for several Mid-Terms which I completely forgot about.

Thank God, I go to class like a good boy.

Haha 'good-boy Rio'.

I'm hungry.
I've got 15 more Necron leg pieces to paint.
I want to work out at the YMCA, but I have no energy and I'm tired.
I'm hungry.
I need to start on my essays.
I got to pay off my Visa.
I want to buy Guitar Hero World Tour.
Did I mention I'm hungry?

I'm going to go eat now.

Making the most of a Weekend

I saw this online, and now I'm tempted to get a 'shirt-maker' print thingy of it.

Did I mention that I had the most random kick ass weekend?

Drove to Hamilton to visit some friends (like always) for the night on Friday. Dipped home early the next morning to do some laundry. I went to celebrate another friend's birthday later that night, and in the midst of chaos, I ended up partying the night at my friend's residence in Guelph. Then, I had McDonald's on the way home. We're talking like 7 AM here.

Oh, and I didn't tell my parents what happened till after.

It was a sick weekend, and I'm not sure how I managed it without much difficulty. Best of all, it was on a whim.

Lots of stuff happened in-between. Stuff that I'm not allowed to discuss via online. I swear they could totally make a movie out of my life, and I'd sell out faster than Titanic and The Dark Knight combined.

I'm tempted to get Edgefest tickets this year. It'll be my first rock concert ever, and I'm excited at the prospect of it.

Time for Heroes

I was awesome today. I'm really enjoying my class discussions and I'm really getting the feel for intellectual participation.

Although, I think people are finding me annoying. Especially when I go off on a topic, and I can't shut up about it. To be honest, I think I'd find myself annoying, and that says a lot.

I couldn't help it. The stuff I'm learning is interesting, and I'm proud that I actually understand it.

I'm becoming more confident. And this sudden boost is making me feel indestructible.
