About Me

My photo
It's life. 24 Hours a day. But to me, it's just seems like one really long coffee-break.

Sigh...

I had a lot of fun hanging out with my family friends and brothers today. We went rock climbing, ate at Java's downtown and watched Coraline (which I found funny and unique). It was a great day...

Although, I was planning on going to my friend's 19th birthday bash tonight. I was actually really excited to go. I haven't seen her in a while and it would've been great to celebrate it with her.

But time ran thin. And you need to be 19 to get in. I didn't have any plausible I.D on me...

What bugs me the most, is that there's this girl I'm sorta interested in that went... Haha, I was actually planning to get her number or e-mail tonight.

Looks like that won't happen.

I'll try and make it up for the next opportunity. I mean, if it ever shows up.

Rio

P.S
By the way, I stopped by the Silver Snail Comic bookstore downtown. They had a full fledged Rorschach costume in the display. It was awesome.

My Condolences

Today, I attended a funeral for my friend's mother who passed away this past Sunday. May they find the strength to carry on.

Her love for her family and friends will never be forgotten.

I found a new way!

I found a new way Baby!
Lah. Dah-rut-duh dah. Dah-rut-duh...
Ulysses!

Damn Franz Ferdinand. I don't really listen to them but this song has been stuck in my head for ages.

Anyway, I just got my first writing gig. I'm opting to attend an Art Show at York on March 9th.

I'm pretty psyched about it. I have a meeting to discuss details tomorrow with the Exec.

Hopefully it turns out well.

I'm giving Facebook up for Lent...

But not my blog! :)

I figure no one really takes the time to read this stuff anyway (except for you special people), so it's not so much as a sacrifice.

Q: But Rio! How will people contact you?

A: Well, I've got e-mail. You can contact me through that.

Q: What if I don't know your e-mail?

A: If it's not already listed on my profile here, it's up on my Facebook (I didn't shut it down completely). And if you can't find it, that probably means you're a complete crazy-stranger-stalker-person. Although I bet if you really were any good of a stalker, you'd at least know my e-mail. By now.

Q: Will you really go 40 days without Facebook?

A: Well it'll be hard, considering that's how I usually meet up with old friends or plan events (and of course stalk people). But you never know. I mean, I gave up playing video games one year. And that was hard.

Q: What will you do in the mean time?

A: I'll focus on studying/reading. I've got four (I thought it was three originally) courses this semester, and class everyday. I'm jump starting my fitness routine again, so I'll be working out at the YMCA more often. I've bought a Necron Battle Force and a Monolith, so I've got those to put together and paint. And of course I'll continue my job/romance hunt. I'm actually thinking of starting up my World of Warcraft career again as well.

Q: Final words?

A: Nope I think that's about it. Hopefully I don't get too overwhelmed.

It's Monday. And I am broke.

That's about it.

Oh, and in light of Watchmen coming out in theaters I took a 'Which Watchmen Hero are you?' test.

Apparently I am Nite-Owl. The 'do-gooder'.

Wicked-cool.

The 'Hot' List!

I stopped by Shopper's Drugmart the other day, cause my brother needed some lip balm. Of course, while he was frantically searching for it, I read a magazine that listed a bunch of attractive female stars. Which got me thinking.

Break after 11:30

Since I typically don't have an exam, I'll actually have a longer break than most students who are on reading week. Which I find halarious, since I've had 3 months of vacation.

Some could say I potentially lucked out. I think the contrary.

Sometimes I feel jealous of people who actually have hardcore projects and essays and stuff. In the end they could be proud of something they accomplished.

Me?

I have to contemplate all the time I've wasted.

Hackers FTL

I just got into playing Nexon's free online FPS Combat Arms. I wasn't a big fan of first person shooters (if you didn't know what FPS stood for) before. I played Counter-Strike here and there but I never really got into it. Especially on the PC.

I typically find that I die too fast, and that I must resist the urge to accuse the other person of hacking. Plus, the game requires you to get frustrated which I find hard to be when I'm playing video games.

Anyway, my brother got me into it and I've been spending the breaks off my essay to play. I don't feel good playing it, and it's not like I accomplished anything (unlike World of Warcraft), but for some reason I feel content after a good round in a map like Snow Valley or Waverider.

But lots of people hack, which makes me feel disappointed that I've invested my time into something that people just abuse.

Aw well. It's still fun.

In other news, the house is a complete mess. I've been working a lot of hours on my essay and I haven't had the time to notice the empty water bottles, candy wrappers, styrofoam trays (with junk inside), scattered papers and clothes lying around.

I'm usually more organized than this, but this week has been crazy for me. I seriously find that time passes by so quick, and I haven't done anything or that I haven't done enough.

I have a feeling that by the time my parents come home tomorrow, I'm going to get a good beating. Hopefully, it's after I can get them to pay my weekend bill. Haha.

Tomorrow I will hand in my essay, do some cleaning and reflect on my schedule.

1. I need to start hitting the gym again (hopefully by next week)
2. I need to start applying again for part-time positions.

That's it for today.

Feeling like a sh-loth

Considering what I ate today, and throughout this past weekend I feel like one of those tubby men in their briefs with a beer bottle in one hand, and a remote in the other after I've finished a hefty T.V dinner. Sorta like this guy:

What? I have a creative imagination! =/

Too many commitments stubbed my snowboarding trip tomorrow (ugh fail, I know). I'm working on my Shawshank Redemption paper that's due on Wednesday and it's taking more energy than I previously thought.

Then again, I'm empty on party-mode fuel and money. And I think I'm pulling into a valley-mode... I can just feel it. Maybe it's because I've been feeling a lot of uncertainty lately.

Hopefully it doesn't bother me more than it should.

Oh, gracious God grant me the ability to successfully approach a girl... One that will potentially be my future wife (so that we can have infinite sexy-time).

Haha.

I'm so sad.

Valentine's Day Weekend

I went up to McMaster again this weekend to celebrate my friend's surprise birthday. It was very eventful to say the least, considering all the stuff my friends and I did.

But fun does have its costs.

I spent a lot during this weekend. We're talking gas, fast-food (ugh), fancy restuarants, glow-in-the-dark mini putting...

Not to mention the fact that, by the time I got home, I forgot my jacket back in the apartment in Hamilton.

Ok so it's a jacket, whatever right?

Well, no my Mom's work I.D was in the pocket.

I drove all the way back just to get it. Can you believe it?

I can just imagine my credit card bill coming in this month. My parents will kill me.

Note for the future? Valentine's Day cost way too much. Even for someone single like me.

My Best friend's Girlfriend

...was actually pretty funny!

I've always found Dane Cook to be halarious. His eccentric attitude and realistic train of thought always gets me. Yeah he might go over the top a little bit (ok maybe a lot) but after a while his jokes kinda grow on you.

I cringed at Jason Biggs' character. Only because he reminded me of myself and how I've acted in the past when it came to relationships. I was like man, I was so fail... haha!
Plus Lizzy Caplan was in it. That was enough for me to like the movie.

It was a great movie. Not so much if you hate the excessive swearing and sheer amount sexual references (although not to the degree of Zack and Miri), or if you just dislike Dane Cook in general.

Ugh big mistake

I made the biggest mistake yesterday morning. I forgot my mom's birthday. Can you believe it?

I felt like such a fool for the longest, until I found out a good half hour after seeing her. We went out for dinner after, and I wrote her a poem as my birthday gift. Kinda cheesy I know, but I got her something else as well...

A good 5 pairs of socks.

Now I know what you're thinking. Gee, Rio you're an awesome son for giving your own mother (who by the way, GAVE you life) 5 pairs of socks.

I went overboard for Christmas on her gift, so I had to tone it down somewhat. Plus I still wrote a poem.

Anyway, my weekend was pretty busy. I ended up going to a friend's Mardi Gras theme party. We butchered an Uno game and chilled with old friends. It was great seeing most of them again.

This week will be pretty hectic for me in terms of school work:

1. An analytical paper on a scientific news article using Francis Bacon's theory of induction and reasoning.

2. A review on the criteria of newspaper articles and their foundation of language using references to Richard Whately and his example in Napolean.

3. An essay on Waddington's Ten years and More (I can't believe I haven't finished this)

4. A personal reflection essay on three important authors that contributed to the evolution of rhetoric, and how they have had an impact on me and my future career as a writer.

All of this is due Friday.

Ugh, I need a holiday.

...Someone say strike?

85!

I don't think I could be any more satisfied with my mid-term mark!

I knew I did well on it, but I really had my doubts. I basically got a solid A on a University test! And to be sure that it wasn't just a mark given to me in spite of the CUPE 3903 Strike, they were marked prior to it.

Despite the awesome news, I still have quite a few assignments due within the next two weeks.

And! Because I was such a reading machine, I actually out-read myself into April! So I don't have to worry about any reading material any time soon.

I am rest-assured.

Anyway, it's my brother's birthday (Happy B-day Bro!) so I went to the mall after school. I searched for a reasonable gift for 2 hours before finally settling on some apparel for him. It's not much, but I hope he enjoys it.

Slept early, woke up late

I always find that if I force myself to sleep early, I'll wake up a lot later than I wanted to. I find that I think too much while struggling to slumber.

The biggest question that goes through my head is during this period...

What if?

Like what if I had super powers? Or what if I was amazing at sports? What if she says yes?

And then the answers to these questions turn out to become epic stories. And just before I sleep, I want to dream about them.
Sometimes it works. Sometimes it doesn't.

Ah well. I have about 150 pages left to read of Bronte, and half an essay left to write. Then I'll be pretty much on top of my academic year.

Or at least what's left of it.

Oh February, how busy art thou

At first I was thinking how dull February was going to be... Well, now that I'm in school that is.

But I'm actually booked for quite a number of things!

I've got several parties to attend, major assignments due, tons of reading (it never ends), a mid-term, an exam, and to top it off I'm going indoor rock-climbing!

Not to mention, I've applied for a writing position for a campus college newspaper at York! I'm hoping I can finally start my portfolio and actually get some experience.

I've got to start a budget for personal expenses. While trying to invest in my Warhammer 40k army, I've been doing research on purchasing my own snowboard (I'm looking between the Firefly Riot and the Ltd. Jupiter).

...February, you'll be fun.

But damn, you're gonna put a dent in my account.

And yeah, my first day back in school wasn't bad. A little gloomy on the topic of sweeping Nazism but hey, I don't have a 3 hour comprehensive exam any more!

...It's just an hour an half now.

Yay!

Hence adventure hearthens upon thee

I've got through a little more than a third of Charlotte Bronte's Jane Eyre, this weekend.

I have seriously become a reading machine in the last two days. 'Like whales in the ocean, only coming up for air when they need it' type-reading-machine.

The book is interesting enough (so far). It reminds me of Memoirs of a Geisha, but less vivid and more traditional.

Aside from that, I am currently in recovery-mode. I went snowboarding yesterday, and I can now declare that I can actually snowboard (albeit not as graceful as I'd like to appear).

I learned how to toe-side (controlling more or less with the edge of your rear foot, backwards) and effectively prevent a complete bailout from bombing a hill with it.

Although I didn't go without injuries, haha. I believe I've slightly bruised my tail-bone, my left knee, my right wrist and neck. My body's a little sore, but it goes without question.

I did try to jump off 3 ramps. I caught more air than I thought and I landed...

On the back of my neck.

Yeah, just imagine the excruciating pain.

Anyway, I've got class tomorrow for the first time since November! Oh pure and true education! How I've missed you so!

Did you hear that? T'was a sigh of relief and sarcasm.
